JCC has been working jointly with HPS, one of the leading providers of complete electronic payment solutions, to successfully complete PowerCARD platform euro migration.

Prior to PowerCARD migration, HPS provided consulting services to JCC to assess the impact of the migration on its operations, VISA and MasterCard real-time operations, clearing and settlement functions, POS real time and batch processing, ATM management, Merchant management and settlement, Fraud monitoring, E-commerce interface and Dynamic currency conversion.

“JCC’s mission was to ensure with the help of HPS that the software migration proceeded automatically, with no manual intervention and no impact on the transactions acceptance processing” said Takis Fekkos, General Manager of JCC.

“The migration has been completed successfully in 30 days, with downtime of only 23 minutes; there was no impact on operations, which was of the highest importance to JCC” said Abdeslam Alaoui Smaili, EVP Customer Care – HPS. Merchants have been able to accept cards upon the migration to the euro without hurdles and the transaction amount has been processed in euros instead of Cyprus pounds.

Thanks to its multi-institution, multi-currency, and multilingual capabilities, PowerCARD is recognized for its performance in providing totally integrated national or regional card activities, on both the issuing and acquiring sides.

Because of its single database, its web-enabled functionalities and its advanced business functions, PowerCARD provides greater ease of use, functionality and manageability for users, merchants and member banks of JCC.

System performance has scaled seamlessly on JCC IT infrastructure to cope with large volumes of more than 200.000 transactions per day and peaks of 50 authorisations per second. Today, JCC is connected to around 18.000 POS terminal and is providing switching capabilities for 10 member Banks. PowerCARD’s scalability and flexibility enable limitless customisations and upgrades to meet JCC’s changing needs.

JCC’s payment system is connected to Visa, MasterCard and Amex International networks and is EMV compliant. The institution is currently undergoing PCI compliance project.

JCC plans to extend the functionality of PowerCARD further by providing self-service functionality to merchants. This will help merchants resolve disputes with cardholders, issuers and acquirers directly, via online services, thus reducing calls to JCC’s help desk.

In addition to JCC, HPS has completed successfully Co-operative Central Bank (CCB) - Cyprus - migration to Euro. Furthermore, HPS supports electronic payments integration of many national and regional institutions worldwide such as the payment processing center CTMI-UEMOA, which handles processing for 70 banks and financial institutions in 8 countries in West Africa, and the payment processing center SMAC-CEMAC, which handles processing for 50 banks and financial institutions in 6 countries in Central Africa.
